Parallel computing on graphics hardware for surgical simulation and reconstruction of magnetic resonance imaging

Abstract
This talk will briefly review the concept of general purpose computation on graphics hardware (GPUs). GPUs have developed into powerful parallel processors that can be utilized for scientific computation. This is illustrated by two of our current research projects in the area; open heart surgery simulation and reconstruction of magnetic resonance imaging.
