Friday Lectures i foråret 2008
Seminarudvalget ved Datalogisk Institut arrangerer igen i år "Friday
Lectures". I foråret 2008 planlægges fire foredrag, der alle omhandler
aktuelle forskningsområder ved instituttet og henvender sig til en
bred skare af ansatte og studerende. Programmet for foråret kan ses på
hjemmesiden

Første foredrag i række er er fredag den 1. februar, kl. 1415-1500, i
Store Auditorium, hvor Mikkel Baun Kjærgaard fortæller om:
From Indoor Positioning Towards Pervasive Positioning
Abstract:
Sensing technologies that determine the physical positions of people,
cars, equipment, cows, etc., play an increasingly important role in
many novel computing applications. The development of indoor
positioning technologies is an especially challenging problem due to
the obstructions in indoor environments. Ongoing research, utilizing
DECT and IEEE 802.11 technology, have explored methods for extending
existing radio infrastructures with indoor positioning
capabilities. In the recently initiated Pervasive Positioning project,
utilizing the Galileo system, the focus is on concurrent indoor and
outdoor positioning. Moreover, the project will explore emerging novel
applications. In this talk we present selected examples of the work
conducted with DECT and IEEE 802.11 technology which includes
developed prototypes, efficient methods for scaling systems to many
heterogeneous devices, and methods for interleaving positioning and
communication. Furthermore, the talk will discuss the challenges and
perspectives of pervasive positioning using Galileo.
